Urban Farming

URBAN FARMING AT LITTLETREE GARDEN MARKET

Urban farming has been gaining in popularity all over the globe and we here at LittleTree have caught the fever, or more accurately, there is now a name for our fever.

Urban farming is basically about growing food  in city centres or more highly populated areas.
The produce is then distributed for consumption within the same urban area.

This summer (2015) LittleTree Garden Market decided to experiment with growing produce instead of fall mums. The trial met with some success like our mixed cherry tomatoes, huge bunches of basil and yummy string beans that our good friends over at SANTÉ in Elora bought.

We are continuing the experiment into the winter this year  with greenhouse strawberries and cherry tomatoes.  The experiment will entail a bumblebee hive for pollinating and rain
gutters converted into growing tubes!

Besides having some of our own produce available for purchase we also carry  some  different products that all our urban friends can use to aid them on their own urban farming journey.
